Overview

What Is a Single Dental Implant?

A single dental implant replaces one missing tooth from the root up. A small titanium post is placed in the jaw, left to fuse with the bone over a few months, and then topped with a custom crown made to match the teeth around it. The result is one complete tooth that stands entirely on its own. This is what sets an implant apart from a traditional bridge. A bridge grinds down the healthy teeth on either side of the gap to anchor itself. An implant needs neither, so your remaining teeth are left untouched and the bone beneath the gap is preserved rather than left to shrink. A single implant with an abutment and crown ranges from $3,000 to $5,500.

Benefits

Why Choose a Single Implant

The closest thing to getting your natural tooth back, without compromising the teeth around it.
01

Leaves your other teeth alone

Unlike a bridge, an implant stands on its own and requires no grinding down of the healthy teeth beside the gap.
02

Protects the bone

The implant acts like a natural root, stimulating the jawbone and slowing the bone loss that follows a missing tooth.
03

Looks like your own

The crown is designed to match the shade and shape of the teeth around it, so it blends in rather than stands out.
04

Made in-house

Your crown is designed and milled in our own digital lab, so its fit and color are controlled here, not by an outside supplier.
Process

How a Single Implant Is Placed

1

Consultation and 3D Scan

We take a cone-beam scan and review it with you chair-side, checking the bone around the gap. This confirms whether the site is ready for an implant or needs grafting first.
2

Treatment Planning

The implant position and crown are planned in three dimensions before treatment. You leave knowing the steps, the timeline, and the cost.
3

Implant Placement

The titanium implant is placed in the jaw. Depending on your needs, health history, and procedure, sedation options may include Oral Sedation, IV Sedation, or General Anesthesia. The appointment is often shorter than patients expect.
4

Healing and Integration

Over the following months the implant fuses with the bone. A temporary can bridge the gap in the meantime so you are never left with a visible space.
5

Final Crown

Once healed, your custom crown is designed and milled in our in-house lab and fitted onto the implant. This is the tooth built to last.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about single tooth implants.

Contact Us
How much does a single dental implant cost?

A single implant with an abutment and crown ranges from $3,000 to $5,500. The exact figure depends on whether the site needs grafting first and which materials are used. You get an itemized quote after your scan.

Is an implant better than a bridge for one missing tooth?

For most people, yes. A bridge means grinding down the two healthy teeth beside the gap to anchor it. An implant needs neither, stands on its own, and protects the bone underneath. The bridge is faster; the implant lasts longer and asks less of your other teeth.

How long does a single implant take from start to finish?

The post is placed in one short appointment, then given a few months to fuse with the bone before the final crown is fitted. Total time is usually three to six months, most of which is healing rather than chair time.

Does placing a single implant hurt?

Less than most people expect. Placement is performed with appropriate anesthesia, and depending on your needs, health history, and procedure, sedation options may include Oral Sedation, IV Sedation, or General Anesthesia. We review the appropriate option with you before treatment.

Can I get an implant if the tooth has been missing for years?

Often, yes, though a long-empty site may have lost bone and need grafting first. A cone-beam scan shows exactly how much bone is there and whether the site is ready or needs building up.

What happens to the gap while the implant heals?

You are not left with a visible space. A temporary can sit in the gap during the healing months so you can smile and speak normally until the final crown is fitted.

How do I care for a single implant?

Much like a natural tooth: brush, floss, and keep regular check-ups. The crown cannot decay, but the gum and bone around it still need daily cleaning to stay healthy.

Does insurance or financing cover a single implant?

We work with many dental insurance plans and will help you make the most of the benefits available to you. Our team can verify benefits, estimate what insurance may contribute, submit claims on your behalf, and explain anticipated out-of-pocket costs. Coverage varies by plan, and insurance may contribute toward portions of treatment such as extractions, bone grafting, or other related procedures. Any remaining balance can often be combined with flexible financing options.
